We don’t skimp on eyecare testing!
We provide a comprehensive test and fully examine your eyes. We want you to maximize your visual performance.
Our eye tests are covered under Medicare and we perform essential supplementary testing to better monitor and manage any changes to your eye health. Our optometrists will examine your eyes for evidence of eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. In order to better detect eye problems, Greenfield’s has invested in state-of-the-art equipment:
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Scanner
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technique used to take cross-sectional scans of various ocular structures.Essentially, it acts like an ‘ultrasound’ of your eyes.
An OCT scan can help in the detection of vision threatening conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema (swelling of the macular), and glaucoma.
Retinal photography captures images of the retina, allowing us to better monitor changes within your eye. This technology has recently helped us detect a melanoma on a patient’s optic nerve. The photography is also particularly beneficial for diabetics and for patients at risk of macular degeneration and glaucoma.
This is a specialized piece of equipment which measures the contours of the cornea. It is particularly useful in contact lens fitting and in monitoring corneal changes associated with keratoconus or other corneal irregularities.
To further enhance our examination results our practice is also equipped with:
- Visual field tester
- Slit lamp biomicroscopes
- Indirect and direct ophthalmoscopes and gonio lenses
Children are not “little adults”. They need specialized testing to maximize their visual performance. This is especially important in the early school years when poor visual attention can impede learning.
We offer a comprehensive behavioural assessment and provide a school vision report so educators can understand the impact poor vision may be having for your child’s education.
Annette Alchin has over 25 years experience examining children. She is a member of ACBO and loves working with children to help them learn and perform at their best.
Regular Eye Testing Is Essential
At Greenfield’s our optometrists believe in providing quality advice to every patient. We realize the need to inform our patients fully about the health of their eyes, and the best strategies to improve eye health. To enhance our advice we have created over 100 patient information brochures on various eye conditions such as cataract, dry eyes and macular degeneration.
We are looking forward to monitoring your eye health and invite you to make an appointment today.
